The Bush administration justified a pre-emptive war on Iraq for its not complying with a United Nations resolution.


Will we hear this same administration justify another war, but this time against Israel for not complying with U.N. Resolution 242 (November 1967) and U.N. Resolution 338 (October 1973)? I doubt it. After all, Resolution 242 required Israel to withdraw from "occupied territories." Have Israeli forces withdrawn?

History provides the reason for noncompliance with the U.N. Resolutions 242 and 228. President Gerald Ford (Republican) tried to reassess U.S. policy in the Mideast to pressure Israel to withdraw. Within 60 days, 76 U.S. senators "urged" President Ford to "be responsive to Israel's economic and military needs."

Has anyone looked at those who contributed to those 76 senators? Are some of them still serving the people?
