I think that there is a very real chance that this is a trap for the USA. Iran is playing possum to an extent and waiting for the US to commit. The US will send in cruise missiles and stealth planes to take out radar, AD, and anything else that might get in its way. It doesn't matter what the US's next step is, because after that the trap is sprung.
Iran will send its top tier missiles to take out US air bases, aircraft carriers, radars, and ADs. It probably already has Chinese and Russian anti ship missiles and AD in the country, but more are very likely on the way. It pulls its mobile AD out of hiding and takes out some US stealth fighters and bombers.
This attack on Iran is the logical point for Russia, China. And Iran to pivot from catious defensive strategies to overt offensive ones.
If Russia and China allow the west to take down Iran they are going to regret it. I think Putin and Xi are smart enough to know that.
