The issue at hand is not rooted in religious differences but in geopolitical and security concerns. Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons, in violation of international agreements such as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), poses a significant threat to regional and global stability. A preemptive strike by Israel could be framed as a defensive measure to neutralise this threat, safeguard its national security, and protect Western interests. Additionally, such an action might be justified by some as a means to weaken Iran’s authoritarian regime, which suppresses its population through systemic repression and human rights abuses, potentially creating an opportunity for greater freedom for the Iranian people.
