Watched some interesting videos on US bunker busters used by B1 bombers.
Some interesting observations:
- Penetrating ability is often reported incorrectly for example soil penetration used when the target in rock. eg 200m penetration in soil vs actually it should be 24m.
- The limit of the very best bunker busters is 24 m of rock. After a blast then debris rocks fills in the hole so it becomes rock drilling. Multiple bombs and the census is that it becomes too unreliable if it is a really deep target.
- Some based on some plans of underground Iranian facilities from 20 years ago they are located 80m and deeper inside mountains. Perhaps even 200m or more.
So a US strike that Israel is asking for isn't going to do the job by any stretch of the imagination.
It's a full scale ground invasion that would be needed.
