that right of return is the most absurd I’ve seen. In 1947 the UN passed a resolution to establish a Jewish state and an Arab state. In 1948 Arabs moved out of the Jewish state - because they were chased out after trying to kill Jews, because it was suggested by Arab states they seek shelter while the war was underway and because they plain didn’t want to risk it. Some stayed
in 1949 the un passed a resolution on the right of return Why they would suggest Arabs move back to a Jewish state is mystifying unless it was a way of killing Israel off. However note that the resolution also included words along the lines of “for those who wished to live peacefully with their neighbours “
so here’s the thing.
apart from it being highly debatable whether any Palestinians actually want to live peacefully with their neighbours (Israeli Jews) and are therefore disqualified by virtue of that clause, I have never been able to wrap my head around how such a resolution was never passed in relation to the partition of India. The Muslims and Hindus were forced to pack up and move to create Muslim and Hindu states. So I call bullshit at the UN, the screechy victim Palestinians and Norman Finkelstein
