Yes it is. That same "most of the "everyday" Americans" are the same people the US politicians represent. So if these politicians are representing people who can't place Israel on a map, why are they sticking Israeli flags outside their office? You have a strange view on the role of politicians in Western society. The clue might be that they are often described as "representatives". Representing people who (as you admit) care not about Israel should not include any consideration of Israel... simple! Israel has no regard for America, Australia or any of its allies. Witness the recent venom towards Spain and Ireland from these vicious individuals. So, Israel can sail off into the sunset as far as most of the western world is concerned. Nothing to be gained by supporting people who often show nothing but hatred for other nations.

Yes it does. Most politicians in congress would not have made it there without AIPAC support. Politicians are usually corruptable, the best America-first politician has no chance unless they promote Israel.
