The world (primarily the west) is driven by fear and wants everyone to like and respect each other and this happens at the expense of security and values. Jihad doesn't care about your world. Israel is not interested in credits but her survival. When you have people in stages around you that perpetually swear by your death and act on such threats continuously, irrespective of how you try and make peace, you have no choice.
Options A. Let Hamas survive because they hide among their wives and children so they keep killing you and yours.
Options B. Destroy Hamas as carefully as you can with horrible collateral in the landscape of war they created for your survival.
