No they dont. After the British left in 1948 Gaza was part of Egypt from 1948 to 1967. Then israel occupied it in the 6 day war. When Egypt negotiated peace in exchange for the Sinai in 1978 Egyptian leader Sadat threatened to blow the whole thing up because Israel also wanted Egypt to take back Gaza.
He got his way and so Israel kept Gaza until 2005 when they unilaterally withdrew and handed over to the Plaestinian authority. Its been independent for 18 years but they would rather hate Israel then make something of it
