OCTOBER 15, 2023: The Iraqi parliament has called for the activation and expansion of the Arab defence treaty against Israel
The Arab Defence Treaty was signed back in 1950, uniting several Arab countries with the common goal of promoting collective defence in the event of aggression against any member state.
They have called for an emergency session of the Arab League—a conglomerate of nations from North Africa, West Asia, and parts of East Africa. This session would be focused on condemning Israeli aggression and discussing potential responses.
