Well that's certainly some of the propaganda the USA trotted out to justify its slaughter of hundreds of thousands of civilians. It's interesting that the USA chose to let Japanese 'royalty' off the hook - could have nuked them instead of battlers.
Apparently unlike you, I'll never endorse the merciless slaughter of civilians!
I'll neither forgive nor forget what the USA did to the those Japanese civilians, to the Vietnamese people it slaughtered, to the German civilians slaughtered when the outcome of WW2 was already done and dusted and currently to the Palestinians being slaughtered with $$$$$$$US, US weapons and US munitions.
