As you imply, the victim of an attack may be dead irrespective of the kind of sophisticated weapon used by the invaders. Beyond that however, are another two unpleasant issues.

1. The DIME weapons can completely blow victims to pieces. Of the 4000 or more missing in Gaza, we cannot know the number who have met this fate. The total number killed by Israel during this invasion may never be known but with 1000 confirmed deaths and 4000 missing, the total could be as high as 5000.

2. The heavy metal contained in the DIME munition is either a carcinogenic alloy of tungsten*, cobalt and nickel or depleted uranium. These metal components are dispersed throughout the explosive and would be deposited in the immediate area of the explosion to cause ongoing contamination into the future.
