Only the truly one-eyed could deny that Israel is a festering sore in the Middle East. It's not just because of ancient prejudices (although they do exist of course).
It's because of the colonial injustices perpetrated by Israelis against the former inhabitants and the manipulative interference by Israel into the economies and political stability of its neighbours. You wisely choose not to debate that issue the way dopey Snooker does.
Israel has enjoyed the sympathy of Western people and governments because of the revulsion from the Holocaust (how many jews were killed is immaterial). The propaganda of a brave little David standing up to a bunch of mean Goliaths has worked for Israel till now and the plight of the Palestinians was invisible or ignored.
Unfortunately, there are no good guys in the Middle East conflicts. Especially not Israel which is getting more and more desperate, criminal and lawless. The spectre of the sufferers of the Holocaust perpetrating a similar abomination may be understandable, but never justifiable.
