■ GAZA: Overnight into Tuesday, the IDF said it targeted senior Hamas commanders in an area defined as a humanitarian zone in the southern Gaza city of Khan Yunis. Initially, the Civil Defense, first responders who operate under the Hamas government, said 40 people were killed in the strike. The Hamas-run Health Ministry later said it had confirmed that at least 19 people were killed in the attack. The IDF disputed the toll claimed by the Civil Defense, saying it had used precise munitions against the Hamas commanders.
The IDF said it struck Hamas control and command complexes inside and nearby a building previously used as a mosque in the Bureij area in central Gaza, adding that various measures were taken to reduce the chances of harming civilians, including the use of precision arms. Later on Tuesday, the IDF and Shin Bet said they killed the commander of Hamas' Tel al-Sultan battalion.
