Israel's Peres: Palestinian State Is Inevitable - CNN
NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- In an interview Sunday on Cable News Network, Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres said the formation of a Palestinian state is inevitable, and that negotiations "should happen as soon as possible."
"The earlier the better," Peres stated.
In the interview, he said Israel is doing itself harm by not offering the Palestinians a state of their own.
He then said Israeli officials could start negotiations by first telling the Palestinians that they are contemplating a Palestinian state. Boundaries for a Palestinian state would be based on UN resolutions 242 and 338, he said.
"On all other issues," said Peres, Israel must let it be known "we're ready to enter immediately into negotiations."
