Yes, when PNG became an independent nation many australian funds & institutions withdrew their capital & this had a lingering effect for years.
It is certainly well located for the Japanese market- almost south Okinawa. Closer I think than US west coast markets.
For several years Ben Clark, Sky News Business has loyally reported on Oil Search although he didn't manage to get in early enough himself. Tuesday he said the co has put a lot of its own funds back into the business & that holders should soon see a good flow of dividends, & possibly a takeover bid. If 8.50 is convincingly taken out it should move higher. a figure of 9.23 short term top was suggested.
The co is certainly playing it cool with the Aboo Dubby
loan repayment looming. Note PM's address to parliament yesterday. Could be all sorts of repercussions.
