I don't like the idea that someone can borrow without my permission, the shares that I own, and sell them to lower the price then cover at a lower price to skim profit, when it is clearly against my best interest by eating away at my collateral.
This is clearly in the broker's best interest, too, to generate turnover and interest and not in the retail investor's interest who is left holding the baby.
Short trading was suspended in the last GFC, yet today's trading environment is tougher.
If politics can change the situation, then retail traders can use their overwhelming numbers to effect political change to level the playing field.
The COMEX has been exposed and brought to heel, shorters should be next.
