First of all, I don't consider anyone ignorant. I tend to be respectful of people and those who aren't have a place on a special HC list. What I was referring to is some posts that pushed a certain opinion without really giving it due consideration or researching it. I know we all want to make money ... anyway...
All WC license holder except Telekomsel and KlixTV were quietly announced on 30 May by the FMA. Up to then Indosat had a chance. The other two were announced during two sing and dance events on 5 June and 7 June respectively. KlixTV was the last announced licensee. What was interesting is what the FMA CEO said during the launch (and then on Twitter). I took the liberty of translating it but you are welcome to check it on their Twitter feed (or via
https://twitter.com/FMA). Screen shot below if you can't access the feed.

"Approaching the festivities of the 2018 World Cup, we are proud and happy to join Klix as MRL. FMA fully supports the development of startup and new challenger in the OTT world and we believe Klix can reach football fans all over Indonesia" David Khim, CEO of FMA
When I read that I knew that the goose was cooked as the French would say. Why?
I have been following TV2U competitors for a while (even posted on that) and knew the two companies that own KlixTV, before they became licensee for the WC. I didn't even know they bid for the WC until the announcement.
The two companies behind KlixTV are TV2U competitors. Below is my old research.
KlixTV is a partnership between PT Visinesia Digital Indonesia and Klix Media is a label of YAZ Ventures portfolio of technologies. KlixTV is their Indonesian startup, operating OTT subsidiary, and product brand. It streams mostly Indonesain channels like Indosiar, Jak TV, and a few others.
Visinesia is an Indonesian TV2U competitor. Small but growing.
"Visinesia is a streaming media company, Our Services allows broadcasters to publish and monetize content over the Internet to be enjoyed through mobile, websites and apps with Pay per view (PPV) methods."

KLIX Media's owner is the big player in this picture. YAZ Ventures, also known as MyFed Media Sdn Bhd, is a portfolio of companies and products owned by a 30yo brilliant Malaysian venture IT entrepreneur, Yazrie Shukri, (they are probably the ones that negotiated and paid for the license, Shukri was present during the FMA-KlixTV launch). KLIX Media is their OTT platform, similar to TV2U's iVAN-X (diagram attached). They aggregate content and distribute it through their KLIX Content Frederation platform with a Spotify-like revenue sharing model. They also have the KLIX Over-The-Top (OTT) TV Subscription.

Also this:
"Shukri's MyFed ASIA provides over-the-top (OTT) streaming services in Malaysia. The company launched its KLIX platform in April 2016, which unifies linear traditional TV broadcasters, content owners, SVOD service providers, last-mile providers and global e-commerce partners into a single integrated service. Last year, the startup signed an agreement with China's Hisense to manufacture its latest KLIX devices."

Now, why would two of their competitors give TV2U an edge in the market? Getting the WC license will most likely give them a huge boost, so why dilute what they spent a fortune acquiring?
That Indosat found its Plan B, that is an alternative to stream the WC, is not in question. They will. It will be KlixTV and won't be with TV2U though, or on iStream for that matter. Why would Indosat complicate it's life and stream one platform through another competing platform. It's like going to an Apple shop to buy Windows! They may have hoped for another outcome, but this is what they have been served and they have to deal with it. I suspect that this is why they have been holding on the contract, waiting for outcomes and hedging their bets.
If KlixTV owners agreed to stream via iStream I will be so very surprised. The message from the FMA CEO is clear, he is giving them a shot, not only as a license holder, but as a new OTT competitor (challenger) in the market. The WC is not the end game for them, it's a mean to build up market awareness that they are a credible OTT supplier, and demonstrate their platform, the same as what TV2U wanted to do. If I am KlixTV, I would pressure Indosat to stream me directly, through my platform, or deny them streaming rights. Klix et al won't be making a fortune from the Indosat stream, but if they manage to get Indosat as a customer... that's a completely different ball game.
Anyway, this is simply my opinion. I am sure others will see it differently. I would be happy to see if anyone has a better/different read of the above. Not a long wait now!
