    Try comparing like with like. The infection rate only started to ramp up by end March 2020 and even by end of June it was still comparatively low. Additionally, January to March are the coldest months of the year which helps the infection to spread and increases the mortality rate, but these months are excluded from the 2020 data as the virus hadn't started to spread yet. Just look at the huge peak for these months in 2021.

    So why would you compare 2021 calendar year to 2020 calendar year, when the virus is under full steam in 2021 but for half of 2020 was only in its infancy. So as they say compare apples with apples.
