Indeed but the electoral commision's statement was issued on friday before UNITA called for quashing the election. a delaying tactic. IF they knew these irregularities were going to occur it was predictable that UNITA would have something to say so the electoral commission issues a 'soft statement' that puts UNITA in a position of having to think hard about their next move... Interesting that it was announced that polling would be extended to saturday late friday arvo/early evening. No followup to that was forthcoming from opposition until a couple of hours after polling reopened saturday morning... One might argue that UNITA have been played in that respect...

I will assume you are being facetious... If indeed the electoral commisions IS independant then we will presume the
constitutional court, to whom appeals against the electoral commision are made, is also...
