I put that up on HC yesterday Periculum - it's bloody hard trying to educate some people.
But each day someone pops up and says - I think we will have a trading halt for this reason or other.
A TH is used basically to stop people with knowledge trading when other people don't know.

Example:
Company wants to do a CR - they slap on a TH - then they start phoning people who might be interested in the CR.
If there wasn't a TH these people could use this info to trade. Unfair.
When the CR is finished - announ made and TH lifted.

A TH is usually a short time 3 days. Announced Monday and lifted Wednesday or sooner if the company wishes to release the info earlier. If announced during trading hour - usually a 20 min halt. Could be shorter or longer I have forgotten depending on the reaction about the announ.
