employed them was colourful Sydney businessman ‘‘Big’’ Jim Byrnes.
He wanted McNamara to gather evidence to clear his name after his jailing 30 years ago for the deemed supply of heroin.
Byrnes said Rogerson, his friend of 25 years, had introduced him to McNamara about 18 months ago.
‘‘He and Roger were both on the case,’’ said Byrnes, who has paid McNamara between $20,000 and $30,000 for his
private detective work to clear Byrnes’ name."
