Just because something is a buy once, doesnt mean it will remain a buy forever.
Likewise, if something is a buy at $6, its not necessarily going to be a buy at lower prices. Situations change, nickel prices halve... and then halve again.
At the end of the day, Glencore is just like you or me, meaning they are capable of, and are going to make bad investments from time to time. Buying MRE at $6 was clearly a bad investment.
