it fills in the spare moments

good reading guys .. I am afraid it could get addictive and too much of a distraction from my real objective of being at HC.

My view is that since the time our species branched off the primate tree, we had to have something to think about while waiting to hunt, eat sleep etc, something to scare the kids from wondering away from the camp fire, trying to explain to them why things are what they are ... so in total ignorance (understandable for the time) the elders started telling stories about supernatural beings lurking inside trees, volcanoes, lightning. The chief probably encouraged all this as he could see it helped keep the tribe under control & coherent and able to survive.

Now in 2014 its still control of the masses, an opiate, intrenched brainwashing, peer pressure, nothing better to do on a Sunday morning, belief suspends reality enough to make life tolerable.
