Funnily enough, this is something I do know a little about - not much - but how to catch your seagull.
Many years ago I took my kids to Kalbarri, and then one warm evening down to Wittecarra Creek to join a long line of amateur fishermen trying to catch salmon using mulies on a three gang hook. The kids were just spectators in those days. Anyway, at Kalbarri you have to cast out from the beach a long way to get amongst them, behind the white water, so readying myself for a huge groin-stretching cast into the blue my bait hesitated for a second too long and down swooped a seagull, grabbing the mulie and hooking itself through the beak. Well, it took off into the air and I was left looking a right prat reeling in and playing that bird. Lots of hilarity and rubbishing from my fellow anglers and, well, yes it was funny, even if I had a red face at the time.
Didn't think of eating it, though, I unhooked it and released it.
