Good discussion
jjjwwwaaa - what a poor argument. I am a retail investor and just join hot copper recently because I am on holidays! I didn't even know WAM before that article. I do listen to the market sentiment and make my own decisions. But I do have friends working on a small iinstitutions but they would NEVER ever touch a gold explorer. 98% of their portifolio is on SP 200.
Actually they think I am stupid for taking so much risk. Anyways I moved 80% of my position into goldies because I think gold price will keep rising and goldies sp is very cheap.
Now
GRY is often compared with AMX but when you look at their charts is another sad story. They have a higher gold resources and were able to raise capital so why is the sp so low? Isn't that a better buy? I am not sure never looked at it.
AMX my concern is that if the company is so good and getting cheaper every week WHY baker stell and black rock, up, or other institutions wouldn't have jumped on board at this current share prices? Those guys hardly miss a good opportunity. I was waiting for that to happen or for a take over offer from another big miner like Anglo. None really happened and last time I talked with Paul (before selling my shares) he mentioned they ceased the conversation with other major miners and funds because none put a "serious" offer on the table and mentioned thst their companies were also struggling with lower share prices and their board would not approve an acquisition at this point in time because they are not sure if they would be able to fund their own new developments. the problem is not only on the fundamentals but on market sentiment towards explorers who are well known for burning lots of cash before they can put some Gordon the table. Hopefully in next year gold producers make massive profits and sentiments towards goldies changes. I am counting on that.
Anyways, IMO Stocks like AMX shouldn't be more that 5-10% of someone portfolio.
The idea of making a big buck in only one stock is very risky. Most people would get burned and I already saw many stories around at hot coper of mums and dads chasing explorers like MEO and why not say AMX too.
When you think that you know something that nobody else does just think twice .
AMX needs to find at least another 1moz next year so someone could really fund their plant etc.
