Going back more than about 15 years, when I wanted to buy/sell shares, I had to phone up a full-service broker, having made prior arrangements, had to write out and snail-mail a cheque, wait for a share certificate. And the mininum brokerage was a whopping $200.It was a tedious process.
Today, we have on-line brokers, Chess statements,T+3 and brokerage around $32 or 0.11%. Thats progress!
Today, except when on holiday, I never go into a bottle shop. I buy all my booze on-line and have it home delivered variously from a liquor home delivery service or direct from one of a number of vineyards. I dont want the hassle, at my age, of lugging cases of booze from shopping trolley to car to home. Thats progess!
Today, I hardy ever need to physically visit a bank, never need to write out a cheque. I do it all on-line. Thats progess!
Gerry Harvey, you need to move into the 21st century.
