The IR laws do apply here. The basic concept is that the laws allow you to negotiate a balance between your contribution and what you receive in terms of renumeration, satisfaction and convenience. Some threads can be lucrative, (some financially from leads to follow, others from responses, a minor investment in certain subjects generally yields good dividends especially from posters such as yak); some threads provide much satisfaction from the exchange of ideas and the ability to leave something for future generations to learn from, though frustrating when deleted; and it is generally convenient to work here as there is nearly always someone on line to work with.
