IMO the 08 profits will be better than expected,
Question when did the mining boom begin to show major cracks, October 08. In september 08 I can recall the difficulty in getting accomodation in the Pilbara due to the ongoing boom.

So IMO 08 had at least 9 Months of strong mining earnings for the company.
2009 - 2010 will be a tuff year but as long as the Co positions it's self to survive the down turn, reduce costs which it has then we should see the next cycle.
