I consider culture to be far more than just art and design.
This may be the emphasis the media places on aboriginal culture currently, because it is their more desirable aspect.
How do you view the cultural practices (which still apply today to aboriginal tribes) re their:
- justice system
- initiation practices
- relationships
- traditional food & technology.
To my mind too much emphasis is placed on the one aspect of their culture (ie. art) at the expense of all the other more significant (could be argued more important) aspects that affect the primary functions of traditional aboriginal society.
Do you think the culture that is carried out by traditional aboriginies in the outback today is one worthy of embrace and "love"??
Mainstream Australian opinion of the justice system in fundamentalist Islamic countries (amputation of limbs, etc) is considered to be barbaric and deplorable, yet, more moderate but similar justice (spearing, etc) is still carried out by traditional Aboriginies in Australia today.
A culture to love??
