Aboriginal culture, and all other cultures are a direct reflection of the physical environment that the people originally found themselves in.In cold climates the need to build sophisticated shelters and defend themselves from savage animals produced the scientists etc in those regions.Australian aboriginals living in a harsh climate with few food sources had to move on every year in a four year cycle before returning to previous occupied ground. They burnt as they left to fertilise the ground for when they returned in four years.Hence came the term walkabout. It is all about survival in the circumstances presented. The religions, customs etc were all aimed at the tribe surviving as a group. If fear, myths, punishments had to be created for the benefit of the tribe then they were. The same goes on today on a grander scale, via news media, sports, wars etc which are to benefit one tribe or another. If you never forget mans origins it is much easier to understand world politics especially today with so many sources of information to choose from.To add my favourite subject,Bush is having big tribal problems!
