Well this is last weeks news, but apparently this industrial disputation has been going on in Queensland for a while now......


Electricity workers have again walked off the job over a continuing pay dispute with Queensland government-owned Ergon Energy.

Electrical Trades Union (ETU) members at Ergon's Townsville depot and its Brisbane workshops have stopped work on Wednesday over Ergon's latest offer.

The strike action follows more than four months of rolling strikes at the state-owned Ergon, Powerlink and Energex power companies.

ETU assistant secretary Peter Simpson on Wednesday said Ergon had offered extra superannuation at the expense of safety.

"Ergon wants its field workers working alone in an increasing number of risky situation and that is not acceptable," he said.

"It now also wants more outside contractors doing high-risk work in high voltage situations.

"That is also unacceptable."

The staff have stopped work for the rest of Wednesday.
