CATAPULT TECHNOLOGY APPROVED FOR USE IN COMPETITION BY THE INTERNATIONAL TENNIS FEDERATION

Catapult’s wearable technology has been approved for use in competition by the International Tennis Federation(ITF), the governing body of world tennis.

Following an extensive testing and evaluation process, the OptimEye S5 device has been permitted for use in-game during ITF-sanctioned competitions. The ruling sees the OptimEye S5 become the first and only GPS athlete monitoring technology to be approved by the ITF.

Our athlete monitoring technologies have already been used in training by a number of elite tennis players in recent years, including Sir Andy Murray, Milos Raonic and Marcos Baghdatis. The ITF’s decision will mean that players can take that technology into the match environment, giving them the opportunity to quantify the demands of competition and further optimise technical and physical preparations.

Athletes are advised to seek approval to use devices in-game from the relevant associations (ATP, WTA and Grand Slam event organisers) on a tournament by tournament basis.

We look forward to continuing to work with the ITF to drive the use of athlete monitoring technology in elite tennis over the coming seasons.
