On market purchases by directors are the gold standard no doubt, however founder shares cannot be dismissed and I still value these when reviewing management holdings. Founders of companies deserve some form of remuneration for their efforts in developing the company in the first instance, and personally I still believe founders shares are aligned with shareholders, IMHO. However, I would have preferred the options provided to directors at IPO did have a higher exercise price.
