Those stats are official govt, not observations from a friend of full car lots. I think the issue for graphite has been the substitute of the synthetic product. The question is how committed is the globe to genuine action on climate change, as the synthetic product is very high emissions. Look at what’s happening to the Great Barrier Reef, ocean temps, sending some interesting signals.
The demand story is only just beginning, we are reaching the point of price parity much quicker than most expected. It’s no longer going to be a luxury, soon a significant vehicle for household saving. Sure there will be challenges, plenty of opposition from legacy interest groups, but will be interesting to revisit in 2-3 years.
