my impression is there was no compensation provided to RRA from MLS for the transfer of the lease as previously the owner had pertained to owning a different piece of land that MLS spent some money on researching and perhaps sampling.
Once MLS realised the tenemant was actually located somewhere else they threatened legal action and the owner agreed to transfer for 'free' to avoid legal dispute and costs...
Where was the Due diligence? Isn't MLS run by lawyers for crying out loud.
