As you say Scottport, gas and oil are both hydrocarbons. What I am trying to say is that drillers report gas as gas and liquids as hydrocarbons.
Jase, if the oil were an integral part of the drilling mud it would be in emulsion. The up to 2 percent referred to would not be mentioned if it was due to a breakdown of the mud. The clear inference in mentioning hydrocarbons, fluorescence and 2 percent oil is that they have encountered some oil.
This should not be surprising since they are targeting oil and gas.
