It's only useless if you come from a perspective of perfect or terrible. The antibodies being produced aren't as effective at stopping transmission of the Delta strain, but it is still reducing hospitalisations and deaths to a massive degree.
I agree with living with the disease, but only once enough people are vaccinated.
