The good news is that the virus can only mutate so many times. To put it in perspective the virus has roughly 30000 as opposed to 300 million sequences in a human. Given this relatively small number of sequences, there is only a certain number of combinations (mutations) possible. Delta I think is definitely more transmissible but less lethal. Vaccination and time will see us through this, but at what future cost is the real question?
