NHC - It's buyback time .......
Here's the logic.
1) WSP currently own 39% (as disclosed)
2) NHC will have a cash bonanza this year
3) BHP does not really want to give Mt Arthur away given current spot & futures
4) The days of 90% thermal coal production are numbered (maybe 2030 end)
5) Shorting pressure is currently strong with CVN shortscrip and L1 suspected as active in bullying the SP given the lack of insto support
6) CVN holders muddy the waters in the event of a Special Div, or indeed higher Divs above 14c py
7) An on-market buyback of up-to-170m shares at $2.30 would still keep WSP below 49.9% and non-consolidatable
8) Such buyback would cost $368m - and eminently affordable this fy
Riddle me why not, Batman ?
