I would suggest many gold investors don't know their history. There were similar periods of gross under-performance of equities versus bullion in the 1970s. Why did that happen? Answer that and you could have your answer today. Gold stocks, collectively, didn't begin to outperform bullion until after gold peaked in 1980. Gold stocks continue to be very hard work!
