Australian insurers are well aware of fraudulent auto crash claims and i know the guy in Melbourne not yet retired who discovered a group crashing into themselves in Reservoir about 30 years ago when at SIO to make fraudulent whiplash claims, so this is not new in Australia nor UK i'd imagine. it would require some pretty poor claims staff or even conspirators to let fraudulent claims through to a payout in this the modern day and age. Even with privacy legislation these days it would not be too difficult to find out the relationship of common or related claims.
