If you assume that CRO's transactions are only performed over the Mastercard network (which is not the case as they also occur over Visa & Fiserv) which in 2019 had a processing rate of 5,000 transactions per second (it may have been improved since then or that figure may be lower than the actual capacity).
That translates to 432,000,000 transactions per day.
I think we'll be sweet for transaction processing capacity for a few years to come based on those figures. Particularly as CRO's transactions are predominantly B2B which are lower volume/higher value transactions, with some retailers performing higher volume/lower value B2C transactions.
What's the concern with transaction processing capacity in any event?
It's not a problem for the CBA, NAB, ANZ, WBC, AfterPay etc etc and none of them have any spectacular transaction processing capacity.
