Holding options gives you leverage, i.e. you hold the rights to say 500,000 shares via 500,000 options. You have paid only $500 since they were $0.001, vs the other guy who holds 500,000 full shares at 2c a piece, costing him $10,000. You have $9,500 more money to invest elsewhere until you wish to convert them.

The only benefit of converting immediately goes to the company who will receive your payment to convert as cash.

The share pool should not dilute acutely enough to cause price disruption.
