If its any comfort, most people who are not succesful shorters have taken substantial losses. What you could do at this time is to get back to the basics of investing in hard times - Don't invest money that you can't afford to lose - if you have a margin loan, pay it down - if you can't sleep at night for worrying about your investment, get out of the market. It may hurt your pocket and your pride, but peace of mind is ultimately more valuable. - Use your time you used to spent worrying by studying more about the market and your potential investments. - When the market turns (which it will) you will have great opportunites and the knowledge to take advantage of them!
