At your next blood test on top of the Cholesterol (HDL,LDL, Triglycerides) Tests get the following. CRP C-Reactive Protein, High reading indicates inflammation.
A combo of High Cholesterol & High CRP is not ideal.
Homocysteine Level. If this is high this(blood)can act like a sand paper on your artery walls. It damages the artier walls causing little nicks & this causes the inflammation, the cholesterol then gets caught in this damage to the artery walls & can lead to narrowing of the arteries.
The ideal test to indicate if your "High" Cholesterol is really dangerous is a Oxidized LDL to HDL Ratio blood test but not many places do this. Also getting a Coronary Calcium Score test to check how narrowed your arteries are is a good idea if you have "High" Cholesterol & are over 40.
Best consult with your DR / Specialist hopefully they don't just give the standard answer & prescribe Statin Drugs & are prepared to look at the bigger picture.
