have recently begun replacing house and workshop lights with leds. i use 240v b22 or es27 units,(direct plug in -no transformer) almost no heat and use very little power. i buy from o/seas as aust. suppliers can charge sometimes 10x the price. i have had no problems at all with the units or with supply.
