    What a surprise, the private sector would have provided the service to metro and larger regional areas anyway. The Government could have then subsidized non-profit generating areas of the country so services could be delivered there also. The cost to the tax payer would have been far, far less and the service far, far better.

    Another example of Governments sticking their noses into areas of the economy where they are simply unable provide a better and more efficient outcome than the private sector.

    The initial project envisaged by Rudd & Conroy was going to cost multiples of their initial thought bubble. The Coalition either had to change technology mixes, of stop altogether and sell what had been started.
