    Privatisation in many instances just makes the product more expensive and the service inferior.
    Nursing homes are one example of this.
    One of my kids has worked in both privately run and publicly run high and low care establishments.
    He says staff/patient ratios are much better in the community run, not for profit facilities.
    The private operators are profit focussed and staff are flat out and stressed.
    The not for profit operators allow for more staff time with patients to look after them properly.
    Also the wages and conditions are better in the public not for profit sector.
    He told me that if ever I need to enter a nursing home avoid the privately run ones if I want to be looked after decently.
