well, no - there is every reason to 'speculate' --------- meaning that we, as individuals, as societies and as governments to 'speculate' to 'think' and to attempt to try and work though different ideas - before we are forced into reaction -

it's called vision - and sometimes foresight ----------- because it's a spectacular lack of vision and foresight that brings human and environmental tragedies

look at the tiny home examples right now, just for a sample ----------- take our housing crisis

we have a housing crisis and a rental crisis and a homelessness crisis - precisely because all levels of government -------- didn't 'speculate' or 'peer forward' and everyone took no responsibility and their action was 'see what happens'

and the future back years ago in housing in Oz, IMO - was totally foreseeable and what we have now HAD to be

to me - atm. We know many things that will be in say 100 years - probably within 50 years (barring total wipe-out by nuclear war etc) --------

and what we can easily foresee ------- will require vastly new ideas and ways - of economics, of politics - etc etc -

yet, here we are ------- with governments - sitting back and just dealing with present bushfire outbreaks and leaving the future - to ------------- 'see what happens'

to me - that is NOT why we invented governments ------------- if we only ever intended to 'see what happens' ------------ then, we don't need governments for that -
