One thing I havent seen mentioned is specific reference to the Operators performance wrt this Gas Kick. ie this was obviously a big gas kick if they needed to back up 800m and re-start the hole. Lucky they didnt loose the well! It just goes to confirm that all the seismic (and analysis) really doesnt mean much until the seismic is tied in with a well.
Not trying to 'bag' things here. I am sure ENI are on it although I would expect extra care/time as they approach the 'gas kick' depth and target zones.
